its pronounced nuculer

if there is one thing I have learned from watching the show 'Lost' it is that babies are really easy to take care of on deserted islands. They cry when there is dramatic tension but that is about it, all other times they are merely a bundle in a blanket. And as it turns out you don't need to feed them. What have I been doing wasting all this time and money feeding Evie? I wish I knew this when she was born.

maybe the dynamic only occurs on a desert island with a potential hazard that is only available when the child cries. perhaps the child is creating this reality of hazard and the desert island are lovely getaways when said child is no longer in attendance.

but why do we pronounce it that way? I as some other more famous people pronounce it nuclear. just as it is written.

I think your title is a quote from the Simpsons.

Nabob, a pedantic linguini answer is that it is just easier to avoid consonant clusters like "cl" by inserting a vowel between them. It's like how some people say "athelete" instead of "athlete" - it's just easier for the tongue to have a vowel after every consonant. Japanese is an extreme example of this preference. This has been a geek moment, brought to you by Lindsay.

but.... oh dear i have heard that that is an adversarial way to open. here we go again.

and Lindsay, numerous people of assorted backgrounds from my father in law to my aussie brother in law add an r to assorted words where there is no such consonant present. hmmm even i much to my shame neither pronounced or spelled February correctly. hmmmm i say.
