a long hallway
in a church
where I grew

I crept through the dark
terror
and silence

until at last
by the door
I fell
unable to move


panic


in the distance;
footsteps

and out of the dark legs come into view
and a hand
reaches
down

a simple word
'lets go'
and I am pulled up
by the man
who has always
been the one
to love and to carry
my heart
connected to my soul
who's blessing and character
give me the strength
to break my ties with
the dark
